For the Good of Nigeria - what our people must do

I got this from Nigeria Politics Group and below is my responses

Compatriots, if you were UMARU YAR'ADUA where would you start from?I’d start gradually, make no promises and progressively make effort to make Nigeria better than attack it with force. What is rushed is never good. So I'd say Mr. President. Take your time (not too long), slowly make effective, not large or drastic or too much, but Effective, emphasis on the word E-F-F-E-C-T-I-V-E change. Slow and steady is what Nigeria Needs right now.

Compatriots, if you were UMARU YAR'ADUA where would you start from? Naija Politics spoke with some of our members and even non-members about the Future of Nigeria and its politics. some just believe there is nowhere to start from that the country is in deep shit and it will be useless thinking abt development. while some said with this new development in the country (yeah it is a development for the country to have its first civilian to civilian transition. not just that Yar'Adua is the first nigerian President/head of state with good education. plus he is new to this President thingy) NIGERIA our motherland is moving towards the positive part.
lets go to the group page and talk about this lets create discussion that can help us learn more about our country. and finally, what do we expect from this new administration and if your were to be a part of it what would you do?

My Answer
Personally
I think people are still folding their arms. They don't know where to start from and are patiently waiting to start talking.

Fingers can't be pointed at this initial stage and no comparison can be made as yet. Folks are going to wonder until Yaradua does something before they can start talking or deliberating.

At this early stage, He is still being waited on to ACT. If for good or bad, we do not know as yet. Speculations and questions and opinion will start to flow almost immediately when our people see a difference, change or shift. I can almost feel sorry for him as everyone including the world is waiting to see what the President has to do about the state of Nigeria. His move is watched like a hawk and cannot be predicted.

With certainty if I were him, I’d start gradually, make no promises and progressively make effort to make Nigeria better than attack it with force. What is rushed is never good. So I'd say Mr. President. Take your time (not too long), slowly make effective, not large or drastic or too much, but Effective, emphasis on the word E-F-F-E-C-T-I-V-E change. Slow and steady is what Nigeria Needs right now.

Don't waste money on un-necessary things or try to build on tourism or build new building we don't need. Instead work determinedly, effectively and slowly take on a project, one step at a time to rebuild the Country, unite its people and make repairs to the infrastructures already set in place. Reconstruct the road, Re-roof the schools, and increase the work-flow & better services at the hospital, markets. Let farming and agriculture be once more a joy to the people. Set in place a structure in the workforce so that those in the Diaspora will come home to live. Why have the man-power, ideas, talent and creativity of your people wasted in other’s country. Let them work for you and help you rebuild the Country.

Take your time gradually to Rebuild and make Nigeria better. That way your people know that you are here to effect change, rectify the uncomfortable and unnecessary situations and is here to make us all one Nigeria. Because we must first and fore-most rebuild, work on our country first before we extend it elsewhere. Let minimize NEPA take lighting. Let Nigeria with the most wonderful resource in Africa for a change have LIGHT for 24/7. That will speed the process of all the works needed to take place in Nigeria.

I wish the President a good tenure and I strongly advice that he acts on behalf of the good of the country not for the country. By the Good of the country, I mean work towards what is best for the people of the country. By for the country I mean what other country think of what is best for the country. When the people are well taken care of, others will see. Charity rightfully begins at Home. Let Nigerians also help extend support for its new president so that we can proudly boast of our country.

In the light of it all, we all must join our ideas together, voice it if we must and join it together with whatever effective structure the president has, to make a ONE unified, non-tribalistic, and Better Nigeria

I love Nigeria my Country - Let us from this day henceforth really love our country. We must initially love our country like we love ourselves, our families, loved ones and businesses to be able to change or make our country better. Try it. Don’t just say it, ACT on it. How well do you love your country? I pledge to Nigeria with all my Heart. For you to say that pledge and recite it and teach it to your children, and not love your country is bad. You have to love your country to pledge to it. We all take an oath everyday to Love and serve our country. We have been taking oaths and not full-filling it. We are all liable. When you make a pledge, whether you like it or not, you make it come true. I urge you that the next time you pledge to Nigeria your country that you should be ready to do what’s right, best and what you pledge.

To be faithful, loyal and honest – this has obviously been lacking. There is no time like the present for us all to take steps and initiatives towards becoming loyal, faithful and honest to ourselves and our country. It first has to start with us. If and when Nigerians can trust and be loyal to themselves can they effectively love their country and be loyal to it.

To serve Nigeria with all my strength – Come on people. The time is now. How have we really served our country? In what way and regards! Now is the time to help serve it with all our strength. If you watch other people from other country closely, you will see that they love their country and serve it with their strength outside of the said country. What are you doing to serve your country? Like you count your pounds, naira, euros, penny and other currency, add Nigeria to your count. Ask yourself how you have served it and continue to count. We must do all single-handedly made efforts on our own to make our country great, so that all that effort when joined together can effect the most drastic change we have never seen. I urge you hence-forth to count your serve of your country. We must all do what we can proudly boast of for our country.

To defend her unity and uphold her honor and glory - Ok. Let me call your attention to this. To defend her unity! Recently we have been getting a lot of bad press and not a single one of us have defended her unity or honor. Of course we are not all bad eggs. But if the good ones fold their hands and not do something, what has that got to say about your morals. Although we express outrage behind close doors, we have as yet to uphold her unity. Yet we all took an oath to uphold her honor and defend her unity. Hmmmmmm my country people when will we defend her Unity? The time is now to start taking our oaths and pledges seriously. The Nigeria National Pledge is an oath of citizenship and ever Nigeria like other citizens of all continents do needs to take their oaths henceforth very seriously.

So help me God – In God we trust and yes we do need his Help to make our Country and its people great.

These are all something we have all think about to effect Change and to make our country Great. Then and only then will the effective changes flow and can Nigeria truly prosper. The problem with Nigeria lies with its people not in the country. If the people join forces, head, hands, ideas and tribes together, we will all see a change. Do you think you can Do IT? The future lies in our Hand. What are you doing to Effect Change and how are you going to HELP.

Have a great Day
