Nigeria at 47 - interview featured on the Houston Informer

How has Nigeria changed since independence? Drastically and yet progressively. The Nigeria that, at independence, brought pride and joy that accompany the feeling that one is associated with a successful country is partly still there. Only this new generation is forging forward to effect changes that have been put in place by past leaders. At independence and some years after, we had every reason to radiate feelings of self-accomplishment. We had vanquished the invincible colonial rulers. Pragmatic charismatic leaders, who promised things and delivered things, were visible at every phase of our lives: The sense of national unity was overwhelming. No one preached to anyone about the need for hard work or the need for patriotism. It was the Age of Innocence, when professional groups placed service to society ahead of financial incentive. Teachers put in extra hours after school without extra pay. Heaven was the place where people went outside of this earth to receive commendation, compensation or justice for unheralded acts of great courage on earth.

At independence and soon after, everyone knew what was acceptable and what was unacceptable conduct. It was a Nigeria that promised things and delivered things to the people. Unity and cooperation were in abundance. Ethnic distrust and tension were not self-evident. It was the Age of the Good Life. How has Nigerian change, read at Nigeria and independence again, you will find the answers there.

How have Nigerians in the U.S. changed since Nigeria's independence? They are taking steps to teach their children this new generation their heritage, culture. Looking beyond the past and creating leadership quality in them to do better than their predecessors. They young shall not only grow but will strive to outdo their elders in terms of community image building.

What message(s) would you share with the readers?

We invite your support of this 3day carnival taking place at the all saints community center on 13403 Renn road (Bissonnet and Synott). Bring your friends and family to come have a grand time while doing something positive.  As we clink glasses, dance, jubilate and raise money for hunger, we must not forget the huge tasks ahead. We must ponder over  soul-searching questions and find solutions quickly to rebuild, rebrand our country before the nation succumbs to the weight of social and political restlessness. At 47, we must toast the nation's resilience in surviving all manner of challenges. We must get back to the drawing board and repledge our vows to our country.

"I Pledge to Nigeria my Country, to be faithful, loyal and honest. To server Nigeria with all my strength, to defend her unity and uphold her honor and glory, so help me God.

As the nation forges ahead in a new direction and presidency, we all need to get back to the drawing board and decide what is best for our nation, renew our pledges to our country, reshape our perspectives and recognize the responsibilities to our Country. The more we work together as a team to rebuild Nigeria, the more successful all our efforts will be. We can do all things in togetherness if all our visions for our country becomes realities, deeper commitments, and selfless efforts. After aren't we all stakeholders in the success of Nigeria?

We believed young people had to form a network in order to achieve personal success and contribute to the success of their homeland and the community they currently reside which is why the Houston Carnival will play an important role in developing the youth, the community and helping to raise Funds for Children in NEED.   We are promoting integrity and excellence amongst ourselves, the youth and other people as well as creating a philanthropic atmosphere for a healthy, unbiased community. A community of family, cooperation, togetherness and unity building.

For the Good of Nigeria - what our people must do

I got this from Nigeria Politics Group and below is my responses

Compatriots, if you were UMARU YAR'ADUA where would you start from?I’d start gradually, make no promises and progressively make effort to make Nigeria better than attack it with force. What is rushed is never good. So I'd say Mr. President. Take your time (not too long), slowly make effective, not large or drastic or too much, but Effective, emphasis on the word E-F-F-E-C-T-I-V-E change. Slow and steady is what Nigeria Needs right now.

The Whole Conversation

FOR THIS ADMINISTRATION
To the members of naija politics
from Wandizzie Adams

Compatriots, if you were UMARU YAR'ADUA where would you start from? Naija Politics spoke with some of our members and even non-members about the Future of Nigeria and its politics. some just believe there is nowhere to start from that the country is in deep shit and it will be useless thinking abt development. while some said with this new development in the country (yeah it is a development for the country to have its first civilian to civilian transition. not just that Yar'Adua is the first nigerian President/head of state with good education. plus he is new to this President thingy) NIGERIA our motherland is moving towards the positive part.
lets go to the group page and talk about this lets create discussion that can help us learn more about our country. and finally, what do we expect from this new administration and if your were to be a part of it what would you do?

My Answer
Personally
I think people are still folding their arms. They don't know where to start from and are patiently waiting to start talking.

Fingers can't be pointed at this initial stage and no comparison can be made as yet. Folks are going to wonder until Yaradua does something before they can start talking or deliberating.

At this early stage, He is still being waited on to ACT. If for good or bad, we do not know as yet. Speculations and questions and opinion will start to flow almost immediately when our people see a difference, change or shift. I can almost feel sorry for him as everyone including the world is waiting to see what the President has to do about the state of Nigeria. His move is watched like a hawk and cannot be predicted.

With certainty if I were him, I’d start gradually, make no promises and progressively make effort to make Nigeria better than attack it with force. What is rushed is never good. So I'd say Mr. President. Take your time (not too long), slowly make effective, not large or drastic or too much, but Effective, emphasis on the word E-F-F-E-C-T-I-V-E change. Slow and steady is what Nigeria Needs right now.

Don't waste money on un-necessary things or try to build on tourism or build new building we don't need. Instead work determinedly, effectively and slowly take on a project, one step at a time to rebuild the Country, unite its people and make repairs to the infrastructures already set in place. Reconstruct the road, Re-roof the schools, and increase the work-flow & better services at the hospital, markets. Let farming and agriculture be once more a joy to the people. Set in place a structure in the workforce so that those in the Diaspora will come home to live. Why have the man-power, ideas, talent and creativity of your people wasted in other’s country. Let them work for you and help you rebuild the Country.

Take your time gradually to Rebuild and make Nigeria better. That way your people know that you are here to effect change, rectify the uncomfortable and unnecessary situations and is here to make us all one Nigeria. Because we must first and fore-most rebuild, work on our country first before we extend it elsewhere. Let minimize NEPA take lighting. Let Nigeria with the most wonderful resource in Africa for a change have LIGHT for 24/7. That will speed the process of all the works needed to take place in Nigeria.

I wish the President a good tenure and I strongly advice that he acts on behalf of the good of the country not for the country. By the Good of the country, I mean work towards what is best for the people of the country. By for the country I mean what other country think of what is best for the country. When the people are well taken care of, others will see. Charity rightfully begins at Home. Let Nigerians also help extend support for its new president so that we can proudly boast of our country.

In the light of it all, we all must join our ideas together, voice it if we must and join it together with whatever effective structure the president has, to make a ONE unified, non-tribalistic, and Better Nigeria

I love Nigeria my Country - Let us from this day henceforth really love our country. We must initially love our country like we love ourselves, our families, loved ones and businesses to be able to change or make our country better. Try it. Don’t just say it, ACT on it. How well do you love your country? I pledge to Nigeria with all my Heart. For you to say that pledge and recite it and teach it to your children, and not love your country is bad. You have to love your country to pledge to it. We all take an oath everyday to Love and serve our country. We have been taking oaths and not full-filling it. We are all liable. When you make a pledge, whether you like it or not, you make it come true. I urge you that the next time you pledge to Nigeria your country that you should be ready to do what’s right, best and what you pledge.

To be faithful, loyal and honest – this has obviously been lacking. There is no time like the present for us all to take steps and initiatives towards becoming loyal, faithful and honest to ourselves and our country. It first has to start with us. If and when Nigerians can trust and be loyal to themselves can they effectively love their country and be loyal to it.

To serve Nigeria with all my strength – Come on people. The time is now. How have we really served our country? In what way and regards! Now is the time to help serve it with all our strength. If you watch other people from other country closely, you will see that they love their country and serve it with their strength outside of the said country. What are you doing to serve your country? Like you count your pounds, naira, euros, penny and other currency, add Nigeria to your count. Ask yourself how you have served it and continue to count. We must do all single-handedly made efforts on our own to make our country great, so that all that effort when joined together can effect the most drastic change we have never seen. I urge you hence-forth to count your serve of your country. We must all do what we can proudly boast of for our country.

To defend her unity and uphold her honor and glory - Ok. Let me call your attention to this. To defend her unity! Recently we have been getting a lot of bad press and not a single one of us have defended her unity or honor. Of course we are not all bad eggs. But if the good ones fold their hands and not do something, what has that got to say about your morals. Although we express outrage behind close doors, we have as yet to uphold her unity. Yet we all took an oath to uphold her honor and defend her unity. Hmmmmmm my country people when will we defend her Unity? The time is now to start taking our oaths and pledges seriously. The Nigeria National Pledge is an oath of citizenship and ever Nigeria like other citizens of all continents do needs to take their oaths henceforth very seriously.

So help me God – In God we trust and yes we do need his Help to make our Country and its people great.

These are all something we have all think about to effect Change and to make our country Great. Then and only then will the effective changes flow and can Nigeria truly prosper. The problem with Nigeria lies with its people not in the country. If the people join forces, head, hands, ideas and tribes together, we will all see a change. Do you think you can Do IT? The future lies in our Hand. What are you doing to Effect Change and how are you going to HELP.

Have a great Day

The Memoirs of Yare - a book about Need

This is what I want you to feel
for the next 2months. NEED,
Intense, mind-blowing need.

It’s between you and your conscience
If I get in your head,
u won't be able to do nothing about.
In it here I come

Whenever you eat, sleep, breathe or shit,
you will think about me
This is all a chain reaction

Your mental scope of things will belong in the realm
where all you see is me stroking you
All you thinking about it me and the fruit you associate me with

When u go shopping you will almost gasp from the effect of all the aphrodisiac
Your senses will be intensified
You will think am close to you
You will moan from the pleasure of almost kissing me
Though I am not as close to you as you think
You will wonder what I smell like

Whether I shampoo my hair or whether I rob Vaseline today
You will think about me cooking naked for you and servicing you
Like it will be so real, so vivid you will want to call me but try to control yourself

Your mind, dreams and body will crave me
Your scope of things will be an agent of potent being
withmerization with arousing intensifying need.
I wish you a good dream tonight as
I will be in there rocking your world 24/7
Right immediately you close your eyes to sleep
and just when u are about to wake up

It’s not a fantasy baby but real
Now playing in a mind near you

Tickets totally unavailable as only your mind,
body and soul will enjoy the experience of this aphrodisiac

This is a mental description of the essence of you
and your need to bite into it
Your mind should mentally imagine
what I will look like wearing just a rose petal
Your body should remember the late night strokes
and the early morning moans
Your sentiments should be of good tidings,
shared laughers and strong sexual potent desires that you could almost feel me

Am I near enough?
To lick you, to tease you, to stroke you and take you in btw my thighs
Am I brave enough to appreciate the man that you are?

To test the time and passion of our desires
To deep into the sparrows of youthful desires
To wallow in the fountains of your love
And bathe in the shadows of your touch
Your tongue
Your gifts of making me scream

Whatever you want, I got it,
Whatever you will ever need, I got
I got what you like, need and Want
I am it, it I, it’s me It is all very simple.

Life, Sex, Love, Support & Sexuality I need you just like you need me
but yours is more like the air that you breathe
Just like you fulfill my every desire, I want to fulfill yours
With you, I'm taken higher, so I want to take you higher still

I am not your cross to bear
I am not your curse
I am your helper
you’re my aphrodisiac
I want you to understand this and dissect, digest
and feel every word I say like you are stroking me

Why did you ever let me go?
Why didn’t you fight enough to keep me?
My memories of you is a blessing
but your need for me will be your cross
My Love for you is your tool
and your love for me a need
My prayer for you will be an assent
and yours for me will be that I am yours
In it all you will wonder why you let me go.

It is an oxymoron in itself
Complex, yet so simple; unique, yet so common
I am your HOME, you my one save haven.
I am your Challenge, your variety, and Diversity
I am your slave though you are my captive
And in this game and dance of wit, we are each other’s master
My mind is an unconventional aphrodisiac,
I am fully aware of your sovereign rule over my body
The power of your stroke
What you have done to get me to the apex of ecstasy,
Guiding me, touching me, teasing me
to the courts of ecstasy and palaces of moans.

You mind so brave yet so mine
The desires that lie beyond the surface of thinking
So strong, so potent and so raw
My survival lies in your hand
On your decision to accept me as the only one

As the decision to deny other bias cravings but the ones I inspire in you
You consider it too much
You want me with a fire that burns
You analyze too much
You love me too much
And you crave for the minute that I am this close to rocking your world
My mind is mine, and mine alone

But your mind is mine and mine for every
The democratic luxury to change or modify your feelings is long gone
You can help the way you feel
You are totally engulf in the very being you choose to love, want and need
I have spoilt you rotten and you can’t be uncoiled.

Your imaginations is donated by me like all inevitable
sequence of osmosis your body craves me
Have a pleasant Dream tonight
oh I will see you inside it
